MVCC
Medium Voltage Covered Conductor (MVCC) is designed for medium-voltage applications, typically from 11 kV to 33 kV. Its cross-linked polyethylene covering helps protect the conductor from sunlight, moisture and other environmental sources of damage while supporting safe and efficient overhead power distribution.
Key features
Engineered characteristics
- Enhanced safety through a protective insulation layer
- Protection against mechanical damage, corrosion, rain, UV radiation and temperature fluctuations
- Compact design for high-density installations
- Reduced risk of direct contact faults and short circuits
- Protective construction intended to reduce maintenance requirements
Applications
Where it is used
- Overhead power distribution lines
- Urban and suburban areas
- High environmental stress areas
- Areas with vegetation
- Coastal and harsh environments
- High-altitude installations
- Industrial facilities
- Renewable energy projects, including solar and wind farms
- Railway electrification
Construction
What it's built from
- Conductor
- Longitudinally watertight stranded all aluminium alloy (AAAC), AL-7, AL-59, AL-59 Aluminium Clad Steel (ACS), or ACSR.
- Shielding
- Semi-conducting cross-linked polymer.
- Inner covering
- Low-density track-resistant cross-linked polyethylene without carbon black.
- Outer covering
- High-density UV- and track-resistant cross-linked polyethylene.
